Welcome

Community Board Five is a local representative body consisting of up to 50 unsalaried members appointed by the Borough President, half of whom are nominated by the City Councilmembers representing the area. Board members are selected from among active, involved people within the community, with an effort made to assure that every neighborhood is represented. Board members must reside, work or have some other significant interest in the community.

The Board plays an important role in dealing with zoning and land use issues, the City budget, municipal service delivery and many other matters impacting our neighborhood. The Community Board Five area generally covers the midtown area of 14th to 59th Streets, from Lexington to Eighth Avenues. There are some exceptions. The Full Board meets the second Thursday of each month (with the exception of August). The public is encouraged to attend. Comittees meet regularly. Please check our schedule for dates and locations of meetings.
