Suspicious Activity this Weekend 5/27/12

Posted in: Madison Park

A resident reported the following incident to me this am.

He returned home and noticed a suspicious car on his street near Wedgewood end nearest Park Road.

He looked out the window and saw a male approach two of his neighbors homes and knock on the doors.  He found out later that the first neighbor was not home (but has dogs) and the second neighbor saw the guy coming up to her house and did not answer the door.  She said her dogs started barking and he left to get back in the car….at this time another suspicious individual came running out between two houses across the street.  He jumped in the car and they left.  About 10 minutes later, the car came back with only the driver inside, circled the cul-de-sac and drove back up Wedgewood  and stopped and waited.    He then saw the second guy run through my across-the-street neighbor’s back yard, jump the fence,  and get in to the parked car. The car took off, crossed Seneca and turned left down Murrayhill. I called the police and they had 2 cars at the location within 5 minutes or so.  They checked out the house across the street but said there were no obvious signs of forced entry.  Both were black guys were in early 20’s (one was wearing an old Charlotte Hornets Hat) and they were driving a 4 door silver/grey sedan…possibly a Saturn and dents on both sides.  He could not see the license plate but my neighbor said it looked like it had SC Plates.  The police said there has been an increase in robberies along the Park Road corridor from Poindexter (Sedgefield) all the way to Tyvola.  I believe these guys were either just casing the area and/or actually tried the rob one of the homes in the area.  Not sure.

Hope this information will keep our neighbors on the alert for suspicious activity in Madison Park

If you see cars that don't belong on your block.   People between houses, or in the rear of homes that you are pretty sure don't belong don't hesitate to call 911.  This person did the right thing.

The quicker the better.

We will have some news in the near future on a possible grant project that we are going to do to help CMPD keep an eye on Madison Park homes a little better.

Watch for news in next month's minutes on this potential grant project.
