Schneider TreeCare Tips

Posted in: Madison Park

Happy February! The Schneider Tree Care team wishes you a Happy Valentine's Day!  May you show your love and affection on this day and many more.

Have you ever thought of why you actually get a hair cut?  Is it because you have dead ends, it's getting too long, it's time for a change, or just to maintain the current style you have?  Well, your hair is a lot like your trees.  They have dead ends, become overgrown, and need to be maintained!

From Your Tree Guy:

As a property owner, we always want to protect and beautify our property.  This sometimes entails 'cutting back' a tree or shrub to protect a structure, driveway, or parking area.  We may not consider the damage 'cutting back' can cause our trees and shrubs.  Making improper cuts will cause permanent damage and affect the growth and health of the plant.

Pruning is a familiar term to all of us that have trees or shrubs on our property.  Professional tree pruning enhances the natural beauty of your trees, improves the health and structure of your trees, and reduces the chance of storm or wind damage.  Well-maintained trees can increase your property's value by 20%!

Tree pruning and tree trimming improves the health of your trees by removing broken, diseased or dead branches, preventing decay-producing fungi from gaining a foothold. Live branches may be removed or thinned to improve the structure of the tree and enhance air circulation in the canopy. Some branches that overhang driveways, walkways or building pose a safety hazard and will need to be pruned.

There are a few common types of pruning:

  • "Crown Raising" removes lower branches to a particular height.
  • "Crown Cleaning" removes dead wood, decayed or diseased branches.
  • "Crown Thinning" removes live branches usually toward the limb ends that reduce weight and can save the branch from premature failure.

At Schneider Tree Care, our goal is to keep your trees and shrubs healthy and happy all year long.  We want to work with you to understand your goals for the trees and shrubs on your property.

Ask your arborist today about pruning your trees so we can keep your trees looking and feeling their best for years to come!

This company is one of our past National Night Out sponsors.  They do great work. I have used them on my large trees, and also used their injection fertilizer program on my trees roots.   If you have large trees that need work I would personally recommend them.
