America's economic crisis is forcing more and more families to make the difficult decision to give up their pets because they can no longer afford to feed them. CMPD Animal Care & Control has partnered with Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina to assist income-eligible families with food for their dogs and cats to make sure families can keep their pets.

How you can help:
All types of pet food are needed – dry and canned food for dogs, cats, puppies and kittens.
Open food containers cannot be accepted because this food is distributed to the public.
Smaller bags of 10 pounds or less are preferred because they are easier to store and distribute.

• Make a donation online in one of two ways:
• Visit secondharvestmetrolina.org to donate a bag of dog or cat food for $10 each
• Click the heart to donate a different amount

• Host a pet food drive:

  • Download a Pet Food Drive flyer
