Park and Rec Celebrates 30th Anniversary of Park and Recreation Month

Parks and recreation have the power to strengthen communities, transform lives and protect the future. That’s why Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation will join other agencies across the country in celebrating the 30th anniversary of Park and Recreation Month—an annual event created by the National Recreation and Park Association and celebrated in July since 1985.

Park and Rec, Town of Matthews Score Major Goal Toward Completion of Sportsplex

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation and the Town of Matthews took another major step toward the completion of the Mecklenburg County Sportsplex at Matthews with a groundbreaking ceremony for phase II on June 22.

Phase II will add four synthetic fields, two natural grass fields and a championship field to the state-of-the-art facility.
