Make sure if you want to vote you get your registeration in early enough. The clock is ticking on the Primary to be eligible to vote.
If you moved into the county from out of state or out of county you must registered to vote.
If you moved from within Mecklenburg County and are already registered to vote you just need to do an Update/Change your address.
You can no longer do same day registeration during early voting in NC. You could never do that on election day.
Links above take you to the Mecklenburg Board of Elections web site. Do those address changes Now to make election day voting quicker for you. If you wait until election day to do a in county address change the process can be slow. Resaon if you moved more than 30 days before the primary we have to contact your old precinct by phone to ensure you have not voted at that location and do a transfer into your new precinct.
Also remember if you have moved less than 30 days prior to the election you MUST vote at your old precinct in person, vote early voting, or vote absentee. You are not allowed to vote at the new precinct when your move was less than 30 days before the election per state election law. If more than 30 days you must vote at your new precinct.
The best thing to do is get those Address changes completed now!
If you can't get to the precinct on election day you can contact the board of elections and request an absentee ballot. Just have two people witness, and you can vote at home or whereever you are by absentee. |

The clock is ticking. Be sure to register to vote by the middle of this month. So you can vote in the primary on Sept. 15th. You must be registered in advance.
Do address changes now if you have moved within the county. If you wait until election day it will take you longer. Reason transfers must be completed before you can just vote, and the precinct officials must call your old precinct before allowing you to vote on the machines at your new precinct. If you take care of this in advance it will make your election day voting much quicker.
If you moved from out of the county or state you must register again to vote in Mecklenburg County.
You cannot register and vote on the same day at early voting in NC, nor on election day.
Do it now if you want to vote.
Also remember you can contact the MBOE and request absentee voting. Those ballots required two signatures as witnesses. That will save you from having to go to your precinct and vote if you are going to be away or if you are not physically able to get into your precinct. Absentee voting is easier than curbside voting for those with disabilities. |
