The Madison Park Homeowners Association will be applying for a tree-banding grant from the City of Charlotte's Neighborhood and Business Services (NBS).  Upon approval, this grant will provide Madison Park with up to $3,000 to fight the cankerworm infestation that has taken root in our neighborhood.  Cankerworms can weaken trees over time.  Treebannding is an investment in the health of your trees and the benefits they provide.

As in previous years, we will be working with SilverDuck Treebanding.  They provide their services to the neighborhood for a flat rate of $40 per tree.  For the first two trees you would like to band, the grant fund will cover 25% of the cost (or $10). So, your cost for those trees will be $30.

Please Note:  This program is offered on a first come, first serve basis.  Do not delay in your response and payment.  This year, we are limiting the grant fund to 2 trees per household.  This is being done to allow more homeowners to participate in the grant.  (In the past, there was no limit per household.)

If you have additional trees that you would like to band, SilverDuck will band them for the $40 neighborhood flat rate.

To take advantage of the grant, complete this PDF document and return it by Friday, August 21th.

If you have not used Silver Duck in the past they use minimal staples in their band installs.

They do the process in 3 steps.

Step one install band.

Step two apply tanglefoot.

Step three free removable in the spring.

You do not need to be home for the banding.  Just mark the trees you paid for with a string or note/map.   Then you are all set to go.

Take advantage of the 2 tree $10 discount per tree through the HOA grant now.  The banding will fill up quickly.    Then contact Silver Duck directly with any other request for banding.

If you don't write checks you can always complete the form now and bring cash to the next HOA meeting in person.   If you do this you do stand a chance of being knocked out by someone that got their payment in hand prior to you.

Also you can probably request your bank send a check.

Don't wait get your forms and payment in ASAP.
