Get a Close up View of Hummingbirds at Reedy Creek’s Annual Festival
They are among the smallest birds in the world and on Aug. 15, you will be able to get a close up view of the tiny creatures at Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation’s annual Hummingbird Festival. Veterans and Active Duty Military Invited to Sign Up Now for 10th Annual Golf Classic
Military veterans and active duty military personnel (including National Guard and Reservists) are invited to sign-up to play in the 10th annual Veterans & Reservists Golf Classic at The Tradition Golf Course, 3800 Prosperity Church Road, on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015.
The tournament features a free round of golf and lunch provided at no charge for those who qualify to play. It begins with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. (first flight) and 1:30 p.m. (second flight). Read more

Park and Rec Breaks Ground on Friendship Sportsplex
Athletes from Mecklenburg County will soon have a new place to play and practice thanks to a special partnership between Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation and Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.
On Thursday, July 16, the department and church held a groundbreaking ceremony for phase I of the Friendship Sportsplex at the intersection of McAllister Drive and Missionary Avenue in west Charlotte. Details
