Volunteers Needed To Walk In the Pride Parade
We will be walking with three other UCC Churches - Holy Covenant, Sacred Souls, and Trinity (Concord).  Wedgewood will have four cars in the parade, including three electric cars.  We need "car marshalls" for each car.
Contact Pastor Chris ASAP so he can forward you information about where to meet for Parade staging at 11-11:30ish.  Parade starts at 1.

Church Conclave/Motion to Change Constitution
We will have a conclave (church meeting) on Sunday, September 20 to vote on two changes to our constitution recommended by our Administrative Council. The Administrative Council wants to change the annual meeting from January to November and to make explicit in the constitution that the church clerk is part of the Administrative Council.  Changing the annual meeting to November  will allow us to start the new year with a Ministry plan (or budget), and with officers and committees in place, allowing for an all church leadership banquet in January and an Administrative Council Retreat, both of which involve setting goals for the year.

Annual meeting
Article IX. Section C. (p.4 of the current constitution) will be amended as follows:
"The Annual Meeting is a special conference of the Church held in the month of {January-delete} November each year for the election of officers, boards, committees, and delegates, budget approval, reception of committee reports and reports of Constitutional officers (Moderator, Clerk, Treasurer, Financial Secretary), and such other business as may be set forth in the call. This meeting follows all the provision of the Church Conference."
Church Clerk part of Administrative Council
In Article XI, Section 1. (p.7) without the comma, it reads (to some) as if the administrative servants are explained as the committee chairpersons. Adding a comma between "church" and "the" at the end of the first line, makes it clear that the four administrative servants, which include the clerk, are, indeed, members of the Council. Here is the wording with the added comma:
"1. Composition. The four constitutionally named administrative servants of the church(,) the chairpersons of the Deacons, Finance, Christian Education, and Property, plus two at-large members. The pastor serves as a non-voting advisor to the council. At-large members are elected for a one year term."

Taize Worship

Wednesday, August 19, 7 pm
Taize is a very simple service. Taize is a monastic community in France, which developed a communally contemplative way of worship that is deeply restful and rejuvenating. There is no preaching or teaching, just very short songs that repeat, prayers, scripture and silence. And lots of candles! If that sounds good to you we'd love to see you!
