Want to see one of last year's winning submissions? Stop by the Charlotte Neighborhood Living Room this weekend to see a prototype of NBS Community Engagement Manager Tom Warshauer's bus stop porch swing.

This is your opportunity to receive funding for an innovative idea to make Charlotte a more vibrant place to live and work. ??‹From a pool of $5 million, grants will be awarded at the city, neighborhood and block level and all sizes in between.

The Knight Foundation is looking for projects big and small that can have a wide impact. Ideas should focus on one or all of three key drivers of city success:
- Talent: Ideas that help cities attract and keep talented people

- Engagement: Ideas that spur connection and civic involvement

Neighborhood Living Room pops up in South End today

Charlotte Neighborhood Living Room, funded by the Knight Foundation, starts tonight at 5 p.m. and will run through this Sunday. This temporary gathering space is intended to bring community residents together.
Stop by to mingle with other civic innovators, enjoy live entertainment and be inspired to continue good work in Charlotte. While you're there, don't forget to check out the public swing prototype possibly coming to a neighborhood near you soon.

Free e-newsletter workshop for local neighborhoods

The Knight School at Queens University is hosting a neighborhood e-newsletter workshop about MailChimp, a website that allows users to create e-newsletters that can be printed, included on a website or blog, and shared with others via email.
The free workshop will be held 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015 at Beatties Ford Library. All neighborhoods are eligible to attend. Registration is required. Click here to register today!
