Safety Alert!

PLEASE READ: Officer Mohammad has asked for the neighborhood to be on the lookout for a black 4-door vehicle with tinted windows being operated by a black male wearing dark clothing. A vehicle matching this description (possibly a Chevy Impala like the one pictured here) was seen near two of the robberies. If you see anything, please call 911 immediately.

Here are some important links: CMPD reminds everyone of the following ways to protect your home from break-ins:
  1. Draw all your curtains and blinds while you are away. A thief is less likely to steal what he/she can't see.
  2. Activate your alarms.
  3. Lock all doors and windows, even if you step out for a quick walk around the block.
  4. Keep your outside lights on overnight.
  5. Get a home security system and post the sign prominently.
  6. Consider reinforcing your doors with Armor Latch (recommended by CMPD) or another product. They're available online or at home improvement stores for less than $100.
  7. Call 911 if you see anyone who you don't recognize or who doesn't seem to belong in the neighborhood.
While you're gone on vacation
  1. Don't advertise the fact that you're going on vacation (via Facebook, Twitter or other social media)
  2. Keep your outside lights on at all times
  3. Get a neighbor to pick up your mail (they can check on your house while they're there)
  4. Make arrangements to have your grass cut while you're gone
  5. Ask a neighbor to park a car in your driveway
There are lots more great safety great tips here.

Never hesitate to call!
The officers in our area have stressed to us again and again that they would much rather investigate and find out it was "nothing" than not be notified when it turns out to be "something."

Let's work together to keep our neighborhood safe!

Madison Park Neighbors,

Officer Mohammad has asked for the neighborhood to be on the lookout for a black 4-door vehicle with tinted windows being operated by a black male wearing dark clothing. A vehicle matching this description (possible a Chevy Impala) was seen near 2 of the robberies.

If you see a vehicle that matches this description, please call 911 immediately.

In the meantime, please keep a vigilant watch on the streets around you. If you see something that you find suspicious, please call 911.  If you are going to be away from home for an extended period, please let your neighbors know.

If you have questions for CMPD, please come to the Madison Park Homeowners Association Meeting on Monday, November 9th @ 7:00 pm.  The meeting is held at Pinewood Elementary School, 805 Seneca Place.  Our Community Officer, Shabeer Mohammad, will be present to answer any questions you may have.  You may also contact Shabeer directly at smohammad@cmpd.org

I think it is important to NOT LIMIT our watching to just this vehicle.  It would be very eash to swich cars or not even be the correct vehicle.

Main thing is just keep your eyes out and call 911 if you see anything that looks odd or not the norm for your area.

Especialy 1 or 2 people parking in a drive.  1 knocking or ringing the door bell and then 1 or 2 head for the rear of home.   This is pretty much not going to turn out good when you see such activity.
