First Ward Park Set to Open
After nearly a decade of planning and a year of construction, First Ward Park, 301 E. Seventh St., is set to open on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 10:30 a.m.
The dedication ceremony, hosted by Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation, will include light refreshments, musical presentations by area schools and brief remarks from local dignitaries.
After the dedication, join Park and Rec and UNC Charlotte from noon until 6:30 p.m. for music, hot chocolate and park tours. Samplings from the merchants at the 7th Street Public Market and Brixx Wood Fired Pizza will be provided from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. The park’s holiday lights will be turned on around 5:15 p.m. Read more

Reid Neighborhood Park Officially Opens
Residents in the Reid Park neighborhood now have a brand new place for fitness and recreational activities thanks to a partnership between Park and Recreation and several community partners.
On Friday, Nov. 13, a dedication ceremony was held marking the grand opening of Reid Neighborhood Park in west Charlotte. Read more
