Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS)

CATS is operating a Saturday schedule on Monday, Jan. 18, 2016.  The Customer Service call center and the Charlotte Transportation Center pass sales offices will be closed.

For the Panthers play-off game, CATS will increase service frequency with additional trains.

Jan. 16: Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Parade

The Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 16, beginning at the intersection of Ninth Street and North Tryon Street. The parade will follow the standard parade route on North Tryon Street ending at Stonewall Street. Event organizers expect 30,000 attendees. Street closures are below:

• The staging area on North Tryon Street, between Ninth Street and College/Church connector (just passed 11^th Street), will close at 8:30 a.m. and reopen by 1 p.m.
• The parade route, North Tryon Street between 9^th Street and Stonewall Street, will close at 9:30 a.m. and reopen by 1 p.m.
  
  Jan. 17: NFL Playoff Game
  
  The Carolina Panthers NFL Playoff game will be on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016 at 1:05 p.m. at Bank of America Stadium. Drivers and pedestrians should expect heavy traffic and congestion uptown beginning early Sunday morning before the game and continuing until after the game. On-street parking will be limited in the area.
  
   Streets and lanes in the vicinity of the stadium will be closed to vehicular traffic to accommodate large pedestrian flows to the Bank of America Stadium. Street closures will begin around 8 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 17 and will reopen approximately two hours after the game ends.
  
  Street closures are below:

• South Mint Street between Morehead Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard
• Graham Street between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Mint Street
• Stonewall Street between Mint Street and Church Street

Additional events in Uptown Charlotte this weekend will bring more vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Some of these include:

• Jan. 15: Charlotte Symphony Pops: Randy Newman at 8 p.m. at the Belk Theater
• Jan. 16 & 17: Spirit of Hope 2016 Cheerleading & Dance National Championship at the

                Charlotte Convention Center

• Jan. 16: Hornets vs Milwaukee at 7 p.m. at the Time Warner Cable Arena
• Jan. 16: Lewis Black-The Emperor's New Clothes: The Naked Truth Tour at 8 p.m. at the Belk Theater
• Jan. 18: Hornets vs Utah at 2 p.m. at the Time Warner Cable Arena

Pedestrians will be crossing streets and walking to various venues from remote on-street and lot parking. Motorists and pedestrians are cautioned to be alert at all times. CDOT and CMPD will monitor traffic conditions to help mitigate congestion during these events.

Solid Waste Services:

Solid Waste Services will not pick up on Monday, Jan. 18. Garbage, recyclables, yard waste and bulky item collection will operate on a one-day delay that week with Friday customers receiving service on Saturday.
