CMS closed for students only on Monday, Jan. 25. Employees to report to work at 10 a.m.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools will be closed for students only tomorrow, Monday, Jan. 25. CMS has worked collaboratively with NCDOT, law enforcement and other city and county agencies to assess road conditions across our county. While roads in some areas of our county are clear, many other roads across our county are not. Weather reports indicate there may be black ice and refreezing which could cause roads to be unsafe, especially for school buses, during the early morning. Therefore, with the safety of our students and staff in mind, CMS will be closed for students tomorrow and employees will operate on a delayed start, reporting to work at 10 a.m if they are able to travel safely. The After-School Enrichment Program (ASEP) will be closed. All school events and athletic activities are canceled. Because Jan. 25 was originally scheduled as a teacher workday and then changed to a severe weather make-up day, the new make-up day for students is now Monday, Feb. 15. Two Project L.I.F.T Continuous Learning Schools, Druid Hills Academy and Thomasboro Academy, will not make up the student day because they already have 19 additional days built into their calendar.
