Stop the spread of cankerworms in your community
|
Last year, Charlotte residents helped prevent cankerworms by banding more than 7,000 trees in Charlotte.
Can we top that this year?
Through the City of Charlotte's Neighborhood Matching Grants program, neighborhood-based organizations can apply for up to $3,000 to assist with banding trees in their community, including those located on private property.
Neighborhoods interested in participating in the tree banding program must attend a pre-application workshop. Workshops will be held on the following dates:
- 6 p.m., Tuesday, July 26 at 701 Tuckaseegee Road
- 6 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 3 at 701 Tuckaseegee Road
Visitor parking is available at the Landscape Management facility's entrance. For more information and to RSVP, please email Neighborhood Resources Liaison Denise Coleman at drcoleman@charlottenc.gov.

Tell us about your National Night Out plans
We're partnering with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) this year to learn more about your National Night Out events on Tuesday, Aug. 2.
If your neighborhood is hosting a National Night Out event, please complete this brief survey to tell us about your plans. You can also visit CMPD's website to print a copy of the survey or call 704-336-7846 to provide additional information.
To help you with planning your National Night Out and upcoming fall events, we also created a contact list for local organizations that provide digital training, internet access and low-cost electronic devices. If you're not hosting a fall event but want to learn more about digital resources in Charlotte, visit digitalcharlotte.org.
