National Night Out, a night to foster relationships between police officers and the community, is celebrated annually across the nation on the first Tuesday in August.

Resource: National Night Out

The crime prevention program kicked off in 1984 with funding from the Bureau of Justice Assistance, U.S. Department of Justice.
