Worship/Pride Events This Sunday Upcoming Events

We will have our "regular" worship service at 11:00.  Pastor Chris and those who wish to be in the Charlotte Pride Parade will leave at 11:15.  There will be a full service for those who are not walking in the parade led by Rev. Jon Heaslet.
Some people may want to carpool to the gathering spot for the parade.  (Phifer Avenue)  We are in the second grouping. We are 216.
Pastor Chris and Vicky will eat lunch at Duckworth's.  Just a block or two from where we will be.  We will return to be in line no later than 12:45.
We will have two electric cars and one old timey car in our grouping.  Also, we have a Wedgewood banner for parade walkers to walk behind.
It will be hot.  Bring water.
We are going to have FUN!
Joining Group 

Joining group this Sunday at Wedgewood. Do you want to be a Wedgewoodian? We have Muslim, Buddhist, Atheist, Agnostic, and Jewish members, fyi. Be a part of one of the most diverse, liberal congregations in Charlotte that empowers people (strives to help people do good and doesn't micromanage) to change the world. Burden on proof is on those who: 1) like to hear themselves talk, 2) like to think of a million things that can go wrong, 3) like to sit on their buttock, and 4) think their contribution to the kingdom of God is spouting off their opinions and knowledge. No perfect church. Why not err on the side of those who want to actually do something and are committed to getting beyond worship addiction. Maybe even to incorporate poor people into the congregation and form long term relationships with the outcasts and to be the world's most committed social activists.

Prayer Concern

Stephen Herbert is at Carolinas Medical Main recovering from surgery to remove bladder and then additional surgery to remove blockage in intestines.
3rd Friday Suppers 
Monthly 3rd Friday Supper Night - Pastor Chris and Vicky Ayers host a supper in their home (6132 Gate Post Road) for visitors to Wedgewood on 3rd Fridays, at 7 pm. For non-first time visitors and Wedgewoodians, there are 3rd Friday Suppers at the home of one or two Wedgewoodians.  Host/s for August are Pamela Batson, and her brother, Joseph Pheasant.  Next suppers are August 19. Participate in 3rd Friday Suppers and help us engage in the table fellowship practices of Jesus and form a beloved community, albeit an imperfect community in which we work to change the world and ourselves, as we get on each other's nerves.
