It's Dry Out There...
Sept
 2016

Dear Martin,

Happy September! It's that time of year to get ready to send the kids back to school, gear up for college football, and prepare for the fall.  With the minimal amounts of rain we received this summer, we need to make sure we are taking care of our trees and shrubs so they make it through the fall and winter.  No worries - Schneider Tree Care can now help with this!

It's Dry Out There...
THANK YOU
Not only is it hot, but dry, too...
What are your trees doing for you in this heat?

We had a very nice, mild spring this year; then June came and so did those hot summer temperatures. Do you have a tree or group of trees that makes your house, yard, or outdoor living space more bearable?  This is the time of year when our trees become the most valuable to us, and we could not imagine our yards without them. It almost makes up for raking leaves in the fall! (Almost.)

What are you doing for your trees?

While your trees are taking in the summer heat all day, we usually decide we've had enough after an hour or less.  Your trees are thirsty!  How do you water a mature Oak tree? Is your irrigation system enough?

A mature Oak tree can pull 50+ gallons of water out of the soil every day. So, you tell me if your irrigation system is enough! You might need to get the hose out and soak the soil around the tree every 7-10 days. If you have mulch around the trees, this will help hold the moisture longer, so you won't have to water quite as much.

Did you fertilize your trees this year?  If not, then now is time to get beneficial bacteria, fungi, and organic material into the soil to help the tree deal with summer stress.  This, along with the addition of water and mulch, will get your trees through the heat-not to mention keeping the shade that we all love during this hot season!

Insects and disease are on the hunt for stressed trees right now. Make sure that your tree stays strong through the rest of the summer. Let us know if you see sawdust, cracking, or oozing; we're here to help keep the trees you love healthy all year long.
