CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Protesters continue their call for CMPD Chief Putney to step down following the fatal shooting of Keith Lamont Scott and subsequent turmoil of the city.

Thursday night dozens of protesters took to the streets of Southpark, marching down Fairview and Sharon Road.

The protests followed CMPD releasing the 911 call and radio traffic of the police shooting of Keith Scott. The three pieces of audio contain the 911 call made and police communication via radio traffic received and transmitted during the moments surrounding the fatal police shooting.

In regards to protesters calling for Chief Putney to step down, he says "You can fire me but you will never see me quit."

Asked about comments in an op-ed written by Charlotte Mayor Jennifer Roberts where she said the lack of transparency, "was not acceptable," Putney said of the Mayor, who had appeared to support him when he did not release the tapes earlier, "My words haven't changed. Everybody is accountable for their opinion and their words. She'll need to stand by hers. I stand by mine. I stand on facts."

The Chief said he had heard those who have said he should step down, but said he hadn't even given a thought to resigning.

Said Putney, "I'm still committed to this city, the city that I love and I'm not going anywhere."
