After spending taxpayer money to conduct a special session today, the NCGOP failed to repeal HB2 and they have no one to blame but themselves.
Despite promising a complete repeal of HB2 after Charlotte repealed their ordinance, Republicans failed to follow through on their end of the bargain. If a resolution was truly their top priority, then Senator Jackson’s bill for a clean repeal of HB2 would have been brought forth for a vote.
We must fight back against these attempts to misguide the public and for the blatant use of legislation to push a social agenda. To do that, we need to bring more Democrats to Raleigh.
New, constitutional districts are how we will gain this leadership. With the special election in 2017, we have a real opportunity to not only gain seats but Senators that will fight for a better North Carolina. To that end, we must have the resources to fight for those seats.
