The Compress Natural Gas Time Fill Station at Solid Waste Services officially opened Wednesday, July 26, 2017. The station was created to make Charlotte a greener city by  reducing greenhouse gas emissions and providing a convenient location for the Solid Waste Services CNG fleet to refuel.

Here are four fast facts about the new station ::

  1. The project began in 2008. Solid Waste Services Compressed Natural Gas journey began in 2008 with a momentous trip to California to learn about alternative fuel options. Solid Waste Services applied for its first CNG grant in 2009 and received the first fleet of CNG trucks in 2010.
  2. This station is a first for the City of Charlotte. Solid Waste Services CNG Time Fill Fuel Station is the first of its kind for the City of Charlotte.
  3. This station can fuel 25 trucks overnight. More than half of Solid Waste Services fleet of CNG trucks can fill up at one time, and be ready for drivers first thing in the morning.
  4. The station saves time by increasing route efficiency. By having a station at the Solid Waste Services office, drivers no longer have to travel far to fuel their vehicles. This saves time, energy and fuel which means a greener, cleaner city.
