Lol, I live on east hill and you're right - the air everywhere in this town is X_X
It's because our power plant still uses coal >_> It is the absolute oldest power-generating technology available... and the least clean.

Tom, according to the QC Times today your smoking lounge will be moving outdoors. Among the exempted it says "enclosed areas used for smoking cessation programs or scientific research". Among the places listed as "smoke free" were "public businesses" which I am positive that Wal-Mart qualifies in that category. I guess when they can prove that pollution from automobiles and factories do indeed cause health problems as they HAVE proven with second-hand smoke, they will take even more steps than are now in place. The Environmental Protection Agency has spent a LOT of time in our community dealing with our factories and power plants. Iowa is the 30th state to ban smoking in public places. What has taken us so long to realize that this needed to be done? There is still more to do, but this is a BIG step in the right direction. Frankly, I'm not certain that the Legislators were all that concerned about our health. I believe that a lot of citizens have worked long and hard to even get them to listen - let alone act! No one has taken your right to smoke away - but you do not have a right to smoke around other people who may not want to be around it. Thanx |

Remember who the 'yes' voters are when YOU vote. A vote for them is a vote for more government controls and even less freedom.

I hope everyone and every business owner remembers this come the next election. If you are for the ban...wait until the Democrats take away something you like to do!! YOU ARE NEXT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
