Hats off tho Ms. Stanley for observing that the Jail Comm. for asking questions and her comment about the "rubber stamp" as reported by the radio station. I urge her and a lot of other folks to ask questons about just why this project is needed.  The answers are there if you look hard. The answers you will get from the Jail folks may not be accurate.  Many counties are in fact continuing, expanding and starting programs to reduce return "visitors" to jails. Scott County has a program in place and it costs them little to nothing and is working. Seems that folks just need to want to do something other that build their empires.  Look hard folks.  You will see the facts if you look.

Keep up the good work Ms. Stanley. Dont let them beat you down if you think you are right.

These "programs" don't work as well as they want us to believe and they all have a liberal stink about them.

While some programs dont work that well, there are some very good and proven programs that do in fact reduce recitivisim and do in fact reduce the need for more jail cells. That is the real savings. Providing the tools for folks to become gainfully employed and breaking the cycle of jail stays is benificial to the entire community.  The problem here is that the folks in power want to build an empire and are lazy and not foreward thinking instead of an interest in  serveing  the public good. Spending money on jail cells is throwing good money after bad if the COUNTY does not need the space. If the Feds need the space, let them carry the  bill for a building not a burden to the taxpayers.

I am amazed that more folks arent commenting one way or another. Given that this will affect the county budget and your tax bill, I urge you all to get educated on the subject and vote when the time comes.

Thanks for the post. I am planning to give it more study. I'm just naturally leary of programs but some work. We hear most about them if they fail it seems.
