OUTSTANDING! Brings back some faded memories.
I was but eleven near that terrible war's end, but sure do remember how it tore up our family once the word arrived that we lost two of our male defenders, though there were several all toll. Both in France. One cousin and an uncle. Uncle Albert's Higgins was hit while landing at the beach and cousin Fritz was hit after breaching the beach-head shortly before Albert. The story goes, being that Albert was a sergeant, he was standing up barking orders as they closed in on Omaha. Word was that he and the rest didn't know what hit them, the Higgins disappeared in a micro-second from a direct hit of German shell, and thankfully didn't know his nephew had passed ahead of him. But happily, thanks to those Millions just like these men, we don't have a German speaking Europe today. After seeing that video(Thank you Big B)! I cannot imagine a more fitting memorial of reverence to honor our brave men and women who fought that conflict.
May we pray another such global conflict never occurs.
Merry Christmas and God Bless.
