Lots of questions, won't be able to get to all of them in this reply but I promised I'd come back this afternoon so will cover what I can.
Ignore button: this is definitely something I'd like to do. However, that means everybody sees a different list of topics/posts which makes the site run slower... it's already too slow in my opinion so things that make it slower need to wait.
Favoritism, special treatment - one of the reasons the scoring system is largely automated is to avoid that. Do we have our favorite posters here in Denver? Yes! The people who post under their real name, help people out, stay out of contentious threads or try to defuse them, don't engage in personal attacks, don't bait people who are easily baited... those are the folks I like. I never end up spending my Saturday evening dealing with the fallout from their behavior.
Brought up as evidence that Chosen is somehow immune to the ratings system: that he has called people names. Checking the logs, appears that Nedl called someone chicken**** recently as well (not talking about today), though nobody's mentioned it or asked why he's still here. Someone with a lot of posts, most of which are OK, is going to have a higher respect score and is much less likely to get suspended for messing up occasionally, while someone with relatively few posts and a low respect rating will get banned fairly quickly.
Fair? Matter of opinion I guess - but that's how it works.
I gather folks think chosen has registered multiple usernames. Additional usernames get banned. You try it again your primary account gets banned and you're no longer welcome here. Any further access means we call your ISP's abuse department and ask them to get involved... getting into fights here is annoying, but fraudulent signups are hacking and outright illegal.
The only people excluded from such checks/ratings are NL employees, and chosen is definitely not an NL employee.
Time to cook dinner. I know I didn't cover everybody's questions yet.
