I detect, in you, a perverse, but not uncommon, sense of joy in Bush's low approval ratings!?  Why would any decent person wallow in that?

In my opinion, the media now can make or break the reputation of any public figure, including the President, if they set their mind to it.   And, again in my opinion, they did set their mind to it in Bush's case.  A large part of Bush's approval or dissaproval rating is a result of a determined campaign by the mass media, and the accompanying following along of many sheep-like people.   Not that he hasn't made mistakes, but I truly believe he has always had good intentions and is a decent man.

We seem to have forgotten how we all felt on Sept. 12th, 2001.  If you had asked anyone at that time, what they would have thought of Bush if he somehow could keep us from being "hit big time" again for 7 years, they would have told you they would kiss his feet!  I don't know of anyone, at that time, that thought it was possible for us to go pretty much unmolested for the next 7 years.

I believe any mistakes he made, were made in an effort to protect this country and it's citizens.   I believe he feels that his first and foremost responsibility is the protection of this country and it's citizens.  And it looks like that "mission" has been accomplished.

I know I'm not in the majority, but I don't buy the "bad Bush" hoopla.  And I don't think an unbiased history will either.

Hiroad - In my opinion you wrote that very well. I would not agree that I take joy in Bush being the failure that we see today. While the posted polls show support for what I've been preaching the past 4 years and it's good to see that others finally see the truth, it in no way changes or brings me joy.

Media is and can be evil. I blame them for this wrong war as much as I do Bush. The media wanted a show, a headline, better ratings. They supported without investigation. Truth is not always easy to see, but we want leaders to see it.

I do not buy into the "we have not been attacked in 7 years" hoopla. (To use your words) I feel the only thing we've acomplished is to change the location of where terrorist are killing Americans. Think about it we save them gas money and made thier job easier. Maybe a better example could be given if we looked at the American deaths of 9/11 vs American deaths after 9/11. How many lives has Bush really saved?

You think you are preaching, davie? That's a joke. Repeating the liberal mantra and diatribe is hardly preaching. All you do is plagiarize your brother's posts from other sites. However, your liberal-controlled Congress has the lowest ever ratings in history...and are remaining in office...but you don't and won't hold them responsible or accountable. That's what is laughable about your posts. Also, I don't think we made the terrorists job of killing Americans on American soil any easier, davie. Can you give us one example of that since 9/11? Thought not!

Don't blame the media for reporting the facts.  Bush has been a disaster as a president.  I doubt anyone will get close to his disgrace for a long time.  If Obama is a poor president, it will be an upgrade.

And remember, no one helped AL Qaeda more than Bush.  The CIA reports them as strong as ever in Pakistan.  We still see attacks on American soil (embassies) and have lost over 4,000 American lives only to see no change in Al Qaeda to speak of.  Their recruitment is strong and the 90,000 plus innocent civilian lives lost in Iraq helps create yet another generation of hate against America.

Bush coined the mantra of tax cut and spend, the most rediculous philosphy I've ever heard of.  You'd be hard pressed to find anything domestically that he did that really helped anything of importance.  Rasing the debt, losing jobs overseas, and deregulating have not been fruitful, especially when topped by two needless wars of choice.  Yell
