Good afternoon! and another pot calls the kettle black?
Yup, there it is, as hypocritical as any politician or significant other's right? to ignore the rules can be. I heard about a pub owner's plight in court because he allowed some to smoke after the law to ban public smoking went into effect. He said that he didn't put anyone who didn't smoke in jeopardy(employees etc.) because the economy is so bad he had to let his help go. Now..... I understand it, I use to drag on those expensive, nasty, lung cloggers, but quit in the 70's due to health issues and common sense. Why I started in the first place? Weak, wobbly willpower, and a trendy affliction. But fell into a vat of clearer thought and a more healthful understanding. A gift? to my careing family in one respect, but a lesson in both economics regarding health and unit expense. Oh sure, I had to have those long plastic tipped things that required an expensive, pretentious minded? case, and only came in specially designed boxes. So that too was a pleasure, losing that label as it were.
But as you so aptly put it, "Do as I say, not as I do" really makes it mark. Isn't it a double standard also?" When one public venue(casinos) are allowed the atrocious act of smoking, and the rest that, almost always associated with smoking(Bars, some restaurants) are banned. Sounds again like the bigger revenue fish, those weilding poker chips, have a say in the making of the law, while the century long, state general funding, bar venue gets chopped at the knees. Even in the northern tear the game gets played the same way. YUP, I must agree with you, and would just LOVE TO see that this first lady got fined, and had to pay it. I recall the fight that was waged over slot machines not too far back. They had a similar battle many years ago back home, and just as up here, "the smaller fish got the rubber worms, and the casinos got the real ones." Just like the Mr. said then: "You watch Rosy, the bar owners will lose, sue the state and and win it, but because the casinos are probably claiming losses due to those machines in bars,,,,the casinos will somehow be behind banning those machines in Iowa bars." BINGO! No prize for that BINGO either.
Sounds like some good ole fashioned crony governin there.
God Bless.
