How do the rest of you feel about the money being spent on Obama's innauguration. I don't really care one way or the other if it were Mccain or Obama, this seems like a terrific waste of money in these very trying times. I haven't seen an estimate of the total cost, but I can imagine it is in the millions. I personally don't see why they have to waste this kind of money for any president that gets elected, ever. A simple informal transition should be all that is needed in my opinion.

I agree. The way things are, cheap and quiet would be more fitting. But, it's a race thing. They want a show.

Look at all the money that went into the presidential campaign - then add in the huge party that was held in Chicago to celebrate the victory, now we add the mega-bucks inaugural parties - wow all those bucks could go a long way on those 'bail outs'! And what do we get out of all of this - change in our pockets - no dollars - just change. I'm so happy I could spit!

i think the inaugural expense is private money (no tax $)...but that is a sidebar on its own (lobbyist influence?).

the fiscal bailout money will end up at 2++ trillion $...the inaugural money probably is a hundred million $ or less.

$2,000,000,000,000++ vs $100,000,000.
