In years past I had multiple IDs, most of the time it was honey. But on occasion when I arrived home from work 3 or 4 hours late after a little drinking it was you son of a something or other.

I always made sure that I had a lot of change the next day because I was not eating what was in my dinner bucket. Have you heard the word revenge ?

Tarrall:

I'm still curious as to how you detrmine if somebody is using multiple ID's. As I stated yesterday, I have friends who use my computer and I know at least one has an account here.

So, if you use IP numbers to determine it, then it would show I have multiple ID's, which I don't. Do you use any other criteria or do I need to be sure my friends never sign into this site when they use my computer?

Thanks. :-)

Excellent post. I wanted to bring up the matter myself, but didn't want others to think I was asking for special treatment.

I can assure everyone that this is indeed what has happened to married. When Married was banned she e-mailed NHL in Denver to assure them that she was indeed not a multi user personality, but was simply sharing a computer with multiple people. NHL with it's professional curiosity decided not to reply. Instead Robert posted here trying to state otherwise after recieving the facts. It's simple, I have four people in my house and all four have and will continue to post here. If Robert finds a legality problem with that, maybe he can state that law. As the multi users grow in numbers and continue to get banned, who'll be left?

Kurious let me Thank You for the excellent post. I hope Denver shows you some of that professional curiosity they were practicing the other night and provide you with an answer. Kudos......

Thanks

Thanks for posting this, Chosen.  I wasn't happy about having a conversation with you (someone at your keyboard, anyway) via email, but not being able to talk about it here for privacy reasons.  Honesty and privacy are both important to me, I don't like it when I'm stuck in a conflict between the two, and I'm happy that's no longer the case here.

So we are to understand that Chosen and Married are two separate people who live in the same house and use the same computer.  That you now must also share the same login should in no way impact anyone's use of NL - Married can simply sign posts as "Married"; I'm sure folks will understand.  (As much as they ever did, anyway.)

Sorry to be so blunt, but... I'm not going to give a specific answer to this question.  It's not because I don't like you, it's just we don't talk about how we catch hackers.

The situation you describe is very unlikely to be marked as someone running a sockpuppet.  Wouldn't worry about it myself, but if you're particularly concerned and don't mind giving away that you are friends with the other person, you could always let them use your account and simply sign their name at the bottom, just as I advised for Married/Chosen.
