Obama and many of the senators involved in confirming Timothy Geithner maintain that concerns about his failure to pay $34,000 in taxes isn't enough to cost him the Treasury job, which includes oversight of the IRS and, perhaps more significantly, Obama's economic recovery plan.
Ther is probably no doubt he will be confirmed but I have to ask why? An individual who is supposed to oversee the Internal Revenue Service and who failed to pay his own taxes should not be even considered. If it were all "a simple mistake" why was it only found out after he have been nominated by Obama. Also, consider what would happen to you if you used that answer with the IRS. It has been stated that he is probably the only one capable of solving the problems of the Tresurery Dept. I doubt that.
