Do you actually read every post? Or do you only read when you get complaints? Do you take care of other boards, other than ours? And do you actually laugh at some of the stuff we post? Just wondering if we can make your job more enjoyable
Sorry for the belated reply. I don't read every post; we have lots of sites (over 36,000 and growing!) and I'm supposed to be, you know, writing code to improve the site and stuff too.
I do read enough of Muscatine to keep up with the fascinating scientific innovations (manpons), fashion icons (nedl... in a thong), and real life (mytwocents); not so much with the intent to moderate the discussion but to watch what this thing has become. Can't remember exactly when we launched Muscatine but think it was around February or March of 2000, so we're coming up on our 9th anniversary...
And yeah, I do laugh.
Quickly on the question about positive ratings - for now, lots of posts that *aren't* "graded down" by the report button, popular topics, having an avatar, etc are all things that help move your rating upward... none of these seem as sensible as a "positive" button next to posts (what should we call it? "kudos" maybe?) so neighbors can say nice things about each other and we definitely plan to add that. It was one of several things that we wanted to put in this version of discussions but didn't have time/speed to spare, so it's still on the to-do list.
