A great opportunity for the school district to save a lot of money has opened up. With the resignation of our superintendent, the district could instantly save around 140,000$ a year by not replacing him. We already have Directors of Transportation, Special Education, Business, Personnel, Curriculum, etc., which leave us wondering how much we really need a figurehead to lead board meetings and such. With that kind of money, 4 more teachers or a whole armload of aides could be hired. Or we could heat the buildings that have lived through the winter at 59 degrees. Or maybe just put it away until it's needed. The board gave our superintendent a 30,000$ (around 28%) raise a couple of years ago so he'd hang around, while offering our teachers 3%.
Something to consider.
