I'm hoping that it's just MY computer, but, I'm having a HECK of a time with the Internet and this computer.  It takes forever for the homepage to download, and, it won't even let me in to "my favorites" some of the time.  Hopefully, I have a guy coming over tomorrow to see what's wrong with it......IF, it's just MY computer!  Anybody else?  Tom.

I notice that this site is a little slow today; but not the internet in general. Tom, I hope the guy you are going to have look at your computer is not the same guy that you related Dave was having look at his when he could not get signed back on to this site. It seems that guru was unable to solve Dave's problem.

Tom, I haven't noticed any problems with my internet service today.  Have you tried things like defragging, deleting temporary internet files, etc.?

Visit this site and see if any of these routine maintenance procedures help. http://www.microsoft.com/atwork/getstarted/speed.mspx I've also found that many of the cool looking features we all love to have on our computers have an effect on speed and performance. Screensavers. Even thought your screensaver isn't active while you're on your computer, your computer is running a timer in the background so that when it reaches the time of inactivity you've specified, the screensaver activates. My recommendation: no screensaver. Not even the blank screen, because it still needs to run the timer. Wallpaper. Your system has to remember that when you close or minimize a program, it will need to display that picture. My recommendation: no wallpaper. Sounds. It may be fun to have Barney Fife yell, "Nip it in the bud!" when you get a new e-mail, but again, it eats up processing. My recommendation: no sounds. Bugs. Weather bugs, Instant messenger bugs, Stock Market ticker bugs. Google or Yahoo or "Jo-Bob's" toolbars. Also any "search indexing" programs. Many of those programs send information about your computer activities to their server. While no personal information is being sent, the transmissions use up processing. My recommendation: Disable them. Better yet, delete them altogether. These are all minimal users of processing, but together they could tax your system resources. I have experienced some improvement when I got rid of the lot. Hardware. Check all connections. Make sure your network card is seated properly. Make sure that all cables are in good shape and plugged in completely. Also, if you're not using it all the time, turn off that printer or any other accessories not being used. Somethings, like one of those USB thumbnail drives, causes the computer to constantly monitor it for activity. If, after all this, your internet is still slow, perhaps there is a new customer in the area. I sometimes notice the net running slower during primetime on weeknights during the school year. I think it is because the kids in the neighborhood are online. I hope this helps. Let us know what you figure out.
