Well put IMC, i believe it was John Adams that said "if you dont work , you dont eat". 

A job that i worked many years ago, had me dealing with people on welfare ...and alot of them needed the help no doubt about that....good people who were trying to change thier situations and make better lives for themselves........but a portion of those people bought into the liberal crap that those of us who worked owed them....i remember one woman who said to me...".when i need a raise all i have to do is have another baby!" It was funny because she had a nicer house than i did, she drove a nicer car than i did......and she never had to work for it......the liberals made sure she had her check every month.

She believed she was entitled to the american dream...without having to break a sweat for it! definitely NOT what this country was founded on.......but its what the liberals turned this country into!

the liberals in your interpretation of american history were the revolutionary colonists...the colonial conservatives were the revisionist and reactionary english sympathizers (like the repubs of today). 

btw...i am not really a "liberal".

i am a libertarian (a social liberal and fiscal conservative)...a political party that many/most of the founding fathers would have adhered to.

libertarianism is really a mainstream political philosophy...except few (2%) know it.
