Windows Vista assistance

Posted in: Muscatine

I'm a network admin and have been using Vista on a couple of my pc's since it came out and yes Vista was trouble before its first service pack and I suspect that's why most people are frustrated with it.

Properly patched Vista runs as good as any of it's previous versions (barring ME) and can be very stable if configured correctly and run on hardware that can handle it. Here's a clue, whatever Microsoft recommends for hardware, double it and you will run better.

I can help you with Vista and I can configure your computer to work well, there are advantages to having Vista over XP. If anyone else needs assistance with operating systems including Windows 7 beta or RC or hardware you may contact me also at obstefication@hotmail.com Thanks!

what would the advantages be.?...i've used both...and even with sp-1 for vista its still unstable......everyday that i get on...i pray that i can access my WOW account....and your so right about having to double your resources...i had to quadruple my ram, add a separate video card with its own memory...a separate sound card....but it still doesnt run as fast or still not as stable as XP is...funny thing is i was one of those 3 or 4 people that upgraded to ME and never had a single problem.....even a couple of the comp shops i've dealt with say they've seen more problems with vista then its worth....and like i said i know more people with probs than anything....and its good to know that some people havent had any probs with it.....microshaft needs to fix thier operating systems before marketing them......i remember when Bill Gates ended up with egg on his face at a trade show when they introduced XP and it locked the system up quicker than anything...

Hey obstefication... this is really nice of you to offer.  I, for one appreciate it.  I'm no computer geek, for SURE!  I may end up taking you up on your offer.  I have a question for you.

I got an email from work that there was a new version that "outdated Vista".  It was an offer to take a class to learn about that program.  Is that true?  What advantage would I have if I learned Vista over the newest version out there?

well all my gaming friends use XP, they say vista will not do some of the things they need it to do. my daughters vista is currently down and it is a new laptop. I, myself use ubuntu 9.04, if I had a new computer(about 4yrs old and I was getting the blue screen) it would work better. It is totally free and so is most of the software. you can download and burn yourself or order free over the net. the cd is a live cd and will work even if your computer is getting the blue srceen and will not load up, as long as it will turn on! If it was me I would do a wipe and load up XP.
