The view from my desk is of the river & the fountain. My co-worker & I were working, (diligently, of course), & we heard children's laughter. I walked out onto our deck & saw kids from my grandchildren's school. (Every One of my children went there... & now so do my grandchildren). I love our school, teachers, support staff & the kids. I volunteer there every chance I get.
When I recognized the teachers, I walked out onto our deck. Many kids looked up & yelled. HI! A few of them recognized me & yelled, "Hi, Mrs. R! We're gonna play on the toys! HOW DID YOU GET UP THERE? DO YOU LIVE THERE?" LOL! Does it get any better than this? I was able to get my work done, yet watch all of them have a great time @ Riverfront Park. Oh my...they left! As the day progressed, My co-worker & I watched as parents & young children came to the fountain on this warm day. The kids were screaming & running & having so much fun playing in the water! We kept our windows open as we worked, every now & then glancing out at the fun they had & laughed...and remembered.
Today... I was blessed... do we get these gifts in a big city? (tlou shrugs & sighs!). Maybe... I don't want to know; We have them here. A wonderful school, A safe & wonderful town, a place where..."Everybody knows your name"...(Cheers music playing in the background)!
I love Muscatine...I love our children & our parents. Somehow, Someway, we all need to come together to make sure that our children feel the same safety that we all feel in our town as they age. The graffitti, gangs, criminals will have their hands full & get sick of all of us if we stick together. Let's give them a run for their money guys!
