West Des Moines, Iowa - Hy-Vee officials unveiled their latest concept for the grocery superstore, a hi-tech, multi-media, multi-sensory shopping experience. "We're very excited about this!" exclaimed Hy-Vee marketing and store design specialist, Harvey Meisner, "We're calling it the Hy-Vee Shop-a-rama Experience!".
The first change people will notice is the Produce Aisle. Usually, the water spray system that keeps the produce looking fresh turns on without any notice, but now, before they activate, shoppers will see a flash a light, a gentle sound of rolling thunder and even the slight scent of fruit, most notable, oranges, lemons and strawberries. "Our research shows those fruit scents as the most identifiable." stated Meisner.
"The fun doesn't stop there!" said Meisner, "At the Dairy Aisle, shoppers will hear cows mooing, chickens clucking, a rooster will crow right before a simulated sunrise every thirty minutes and throughout will be that wonderful scent of fresh cut hay!"
Plan are in the works for an upgrade for all of Hy-Vee's 197 stores. If all goes well, the upgrades will be completed within two years. Meisner said that so far, consumer feedback has been positive on almost all of the "Hy-Vee Shop-a-rama Experience."
"We're are having trouble with one area of the store." said Meisner, "And until changes can be made, we're warning all shopping to avoid the Toilet Paper Aisle!"
