From a teacher in the Nashville area

"We are worried about "the cow" when it is all about the "Ice Cream"

The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade this year.

The presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest.
I decided we would have an election for a class president.

We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote.

To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members.

We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have.

We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot.

The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids.

I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support.
I had never seen Olivia's mother.

The day arrived when they were to make their speeches.
Jamie went first.

He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better
place. He ended by promising to do his very best.
Everyone applauded and he sat down.

Now is was Olivia's turn to speak.

Her speech was concise.
She said, "If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream."

She sat down.
The class went wild. "Yes! Yes!

We want ice cream."

She surely would say more. She did not have to.

A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream?

She wasn't sure.

Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it.

She didn't know.

The class really didn't care.

All they were thinking about was ice cream.

Jamie was forgotten. Olivia won by a landslide.

Every time Barack Obama opened his mouth he offered ice cream and
52 percent of the people reacted like nine year olds.

They want ice cream.
The other 48 percent know

they're going to have to feed the cow and clean up the mess."

Remember, the government cannot give anything to anyone ---
that they have not first taken away from someone else.

The problem is that some people believe they are entitled to what others have...what others have worked hard for. My wife is wanting to go back to school, she has her sights set on a job that will pay around 30.00 to 50.00 dollars an hr.....Shes the one who will be working, shes the one who will be going to school right after she gets off work....she is the one who will be sacrificing time with our family to make a better life for our family...as well i want to go back to school to get a better position where i work....we will be sacrificing alot to make a better life for us and our children........through all of OUR sacrifices people like JOS and mallory expect us to make even more sacrifices for people too friggin lazy to do for themselves..........anybody can change their situation and do better for themselves...but unfortunately they vote for modern day robin hoods that promise them laziness with all of the comforts of someone doing better than they are...by robbing it from those who took the inititave to do better and try harder...

Mallory brought up that socialism works great in china...but alot of those small towns are greatly impoverished...i read today that they have 3 people so far that have contracted the plague...the living conditions arent as great as she may believe....

While mallory believes the tax increase will be 1 percent on the rich, she is sadly mistaken, in New York , California, and various other places it threatens to push tax rates to the 60 percent mark...so my question to mallory would be....are you willing to give up 60 percent of your income to taxes? thats what may happens if the healthcare reform is passed...you expect the rich to do it.....how does the old saying go about going to the well one time too many.....what happens when the rich are drained? job losses due to company closings?

Mallory in the lifstyle that you live right now, could you honestly afford to give up 60 percent of your income to taxes? my guess would be probably not.....but yet you believe that others should make that same sacrifice, a sacrifice that you yourself would not.....

A "bunch" of quotations regarding Socialism, which are instructive, in my opinion:  (Sorry for the length.  Hope you have the time to read)

The reason this country continues its drift toward socialism and big nanny government is because too many people vote in the expectation of getting something for nothing, not because they have a concern for what is good for the country.
Lyn Nofziger

When one makes a Revolution, one cannot mark time; one must always go forward - or go back. He who now talks about the "freedom of the press" goes backward, and halts our headlong course towards Socialism.
Vladimir Lenin

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.
Winston Churchill

First, then, State Socialism, which may be described as the doctrine that all the affairs of men should be managed by the government, regardless of individual choice.
Benjamin Tucker

To pursue a so-called Third Way is foolish. We had our experience with this in the 1960s when we looked for a socialism with a human face. It did not work, and we must be explicit that we are not aiming for a more efficient version of a system that has failed.
Vaclav Klaus

To cure the British disease with socialism was like trying to cure leukaemia with leeches.
Margaret Thatcher

Socialism values equality more than liberty.
Dennis Prager

The function of socialism is to raise suffering to a higher level.
Norman Mailer

The goal of socialism is communism.
Vladimir Lenin

The only differences one can and should allow in socialism are between hard working people and idlers and between honest people and dishonest people.
Slobodan Milosevic

My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world.  I hope you'll join me as we try to change it.

Barack Hussein Obama

And a couple about Obama's "constituents" before his "meteroic" rise:

In most places in the country, voting is looked upon as a right and a duty, but in Chicago it's a sport. In Chicago not only your vote counts, but all kinds of other votes--kids, dead folks, and so on.
Dick Gregory

You can get much farther with a kind word and a gun than you can with a kind word alone.
Al Capone
