While I disagree with those praising Obama's supposed intelligence, I will agree that Obama would make a great donkey driver. We've all seen cartoons showing a donkey pulling a cart, trying to get to a carrot dangling from a string tied to a stick being held in front of the donkey by the driver.
"Cash for clunkers" is one of those carrots. Obama dangled that carrot out, donkeys, ( the public) lunged at it big time. Now, many dealers are still waiting for their money. The auto industry got a brief surge. So, now what? Obama's people are probably thinking, "if that many people can afford a new car, the country can afford a tax increase".
Health care is the largest carrot. This carrot however, is in a paper bag. Many donkeys are still lunging at it even though they can't see the carrot. In fact, the poor donkeys don't really know what is in the bag. They trust the driver enough to think there must be a really great carrot in that bag. Obama, the driver knows as long as he can dangle a carrot or promise of a carrot out there, the poor donkey, (public) will take him where he wants to go.
