HiSmile.

This is a perplexing world and often times we don't realize how much we can mean to each other until the day, as several of mine lately, we have a tragedy, then those who care and some we didn't realize did, come forth with warmth and kindness. I know I'm a child among the familiar posters here and apologize to anyone who feels I may have slammed them. Daryl, Nedl, Nigel, all men? who know their hearts at least, and don't take any prisoners. I'm ever so thankful for them and the senses of humor to boot. You guys do not get us ladies, no offense, but it is true. Roe is utterly sound in her assesment. I know of no "Davis," but would like to know more about the "long time back" woman poster? For any doubters that I am a woman, well ask me and I'll unload  with the wiles of my mother and grandmother. But it's a fair playing field this arena, and I can take as good as I get. Especially if I deserve it. I need a bubble dip.... then I'll answer those questions without the urge or bait tactics some of us enjoy, to misdirect one another.

As I mentioned, I can't remember who this "long time ago" woman was nor her poster name. Her writing style was much like yours. Maybe Bigbrother remembers. If he's reading these maybe he'll enlighten us.

Davis was a family of scammers and liars, always playing games with other posters. I apologize for even thinking you might be linked with that bunch.

I look forward to seeing many more posts from you.

Yes Ned, this has an eerily familiar ring to it.  Remember the old JD mantra...."You don't agree with me, therefore you don't understand".  Now it's "I think you are a man, therefore you can't understand."

Why am I automatically a man?  Remember Daryl Hannah?  And wouldn't it be considered some kind of prejudice to assume that, if I were a man, there are certain things I automatically can't understand?

Troubling questions for our times.

HiSmile

It stands to reason that others might come along who do so enjoy a good mind grapple. And should it look as though an old friend or nemesis pops up, I can only offer my so called word, that I am who I am. I think that primarily, I have yet to call out the correctness police over our content here. But only offer a minimal...at best defense of a couple notions put forth by another poster, aside of my own. I'd like to read some of the woman you spoke of.... posts? Any more info on her and where has she gone? And what's the JD mantra?

You asked Daryl, and now that Kohl has scooted off to school, I can express a bit. Yes you got me there. Daryl Hanna does come to mind and so does Daryl Strawberry, and "My other brother Daryl" but yes I see your point. Sorry to automatically assume you are a man and would suggest your honor accept I am likely who or what I say I am. It was more than a few comments though that took me to that conclusion, not just your own. But it isn't any more fair for me to assume than it is for you. So Man? Woman? if you don't mind and enough then said. But for me, well right off I clued the site with my love of cats though I know some men like cats too. Maine Coons to be proud.

These ARE troubling times as you say. So as I promised. I am a stern independent. I am a doubter, not denyer of the "Global Warming Theory." It was said that we are finally exiting the last Ice Age when I was still in high school, and are subject to radical changes as we go from frozen, cold, to warmer, and finally hotter. I am not sorry to say that I too do feel that the cycles in our weather patterns have been fairly consistent since records have been kept. With extremes on both sides of the temperature scale. Sorry mallory. But.... the science does put forth strong arguments leaning to a more rapid change in cycles due to greenhouse gasses that.....YES, THAT MIGHT actually be setting a pattern of Global Warming. So at this point, I am skeptical that the warming theory isn't flawed. Without quoting much from biblical sources, there does seem to be those elements of prophecy occurring before our very eyes indicating to me that we are amid some rather scary events. And that might mean that nothing can be done about it should that be the case. There too you're feelings are likely right Daryl. Live well and go when our number is up.

Finally. Being an independent, it has always felt right to me, to vote with common sense. I voted for Clinton my first time out. Not my second though. I felt he hurt the nation by his NAFTA signature and though I didn't much care about his two timing Hilary, it did say a lot about his character by doing it in the oval office. My dad always said Kennedy was much worse in that way. But it wasn't that for me, was his policy regarding free trade and his signature that set the wheels of repeal in motion. I do not credit him directly because President Bush could have very easily turned that around with one pen stroke, He didn't. He just kept adding to the mistakes. But although he didn't actually win in 2000 he got my vote. I felt Al Gore was but a clinton clone. I admit I was wrong. 2004 was a bust for my family. The vote was the furthest thing from our minds at the time.  McCain seemed like the right guy, especially in the beginning. He got my vote but I had major doubts about Palin. My dad was crushed when I told him who I voted for. He just didn't understand it. But like many seemed to feel about 2004, we had a team in place that should have been allowed to finish the job or go down with the ship. Now the democrats are the biggest losers and it's inevitable. No one or no team will be able to repair this mess in one term much less one year and by God these dems in congress are just fools. It's like watching the stooges times 185. Both sides are morons and term limits are needed right away.

I want my constitutional rights protected, I want to own the guns our founders established and I want this president to openly announce that fact, and that none shall write any bills he won't pass that diminishes that right. Either by making bullets illegal or harder to get. By making guns... by law abiding citizens harder to get. As my grandma and dad always said, "Idiots will commit crimes no matter what the law says." I disagree with the gay life style, they use to like the closet, I sort of-- sinfully? feel they should stay there, but that's between them and the Lord, not me and the courts. I feel that a baby should be born in most cases, but my rights and yours are the same. I wouldn't abort, but that's me and that too is between them and the Lord. I don't have the power to offer salvation to anyone, that's between Jesus and individual sinners. It isn't their soul in danger from my life's sins or mine from anyone else'. The courts do not have domain there. I am no constitutional scholar, but did study sociology and psychology in college and found it fascinating. I do understand the Bill Of Rights and basic constitutional meanings, all 27 of them.

Whew that was along one! I will try to keep these shorter next time.
