I'm wondering if any of my neighbors have had good experiences with local businesses that they'd like to share.  It's all to easy to rail on the bad (I've certainly encouraged people to avoid WalMart enough times on this very site), but word-of-mouth can be very beneficial to local business.  A few from me.....

....Pleasure Pools and Spas, just North of Toys R Us in Davenport on Brady.  Nice people, good product line, good prices, installation when they said it would be.

.....Hy-Vee.  Great weekend sale, friendly staff, always feels like walking into the old neighborhood grocery, only twenty times bigger.

....MPW.  Had a few problems with the cable and internet.  Quick service when promised, friendly and informative service man, results.

....Boche plumbing.  Good guys to have around when the need arises.

....Muscatine Toyota and Kreigers service departments.  Depends on which car needs work, but have had very good luck at both.

Would love to hear more.

Ditto on the HyVee....but we like Fareway too. In fact, their meat counter is smaller but more awsome than HyVee with prices and quality of cuts right now.

Sam's Club...Davenport.

Hyink's Standard for wrecker service in Musc is a plus; heaven forbid you ever need it.

Rumors Bar and Grill in Musc for to-die-for cheeseburgers. Also low drink prices everyday, lunch specials.

Quality Cobbler at the mall. I hate the mall but their service and selection is felt as personal when you shop there. At least someone waits on you.

Walgreens in Musc. When getting a scrip refilled, I always walk around and shop/look. You can find some great prices on things that I would have never thought a drug store would sell. Some real surprises.

These just came to mind first...I'm sure there are others.

I love going into the Bargain Mart downtown.  Lot's of old used furniture and stuff.  Friendly feller runs the place.  Manley's antiques is nice.  In Davenport, the Lazy Boy Gallery out on Elmore.  Sometimes I go there just to sit in the really comfy chairs.
