The news and commentary on what happened in Mass. yesterday leaves out something that needs to be said.
People are asking "what's the message, here?". And what was behind this? Is it about Coakley or Obama? etc., etc.
I'll give you my take on why this happened by using an allegory of my invention:
Suppose you inherit and live in a very old, but very beautiful house. The house has been in your family for centuries and still looks rather good. It was built with a good foundation and some great materials. It has withstood many storms and other threats.
Your wife (or husband), for some reason, hires a guy to come in and make some repairs. You come home one day, open the door, and find him trashing the house, knocking out walls and windows, and now chipping away at the foundation. You realize that this "repairman" who had no real qualifications when you hired him is actually nuts and really hates old houses, especially the type you inherited and live in. In addition you find out he wants to bulldoze your house, build his own, and turn you into a servent in that house.
In my opinion, that is what is happening in our country today. The only people now supporting the repairman are fools or those who also hate those old houses.
