VERY GOOD POINTS:::Well, originally I asked::::well I don't recall now who I asked originally, but I too had the same questions because it wouldn't be fair to just hold out for Administrative or just congressional and so on. But I was looking at the basic scandal lists of our political system in general. But after several days of searching, reading and such::::I gotta tell ya, it's a huge task after all. The Dems have the HI Hand for congressional so far, sytemics are the repubs, gubinatorial is in the dems court, Judicial is in the dems court, but presidential admin. is way up there in the repubs court. So all in all, right now with about 75 years left to search, I'd have to say it's a toss-up if one looks at simply scandal. But as you pointed out, there are so many variables to consider. That's why I just thought I'd add up the basics. Scandal being any element of criminal, financial, ethics, sex, and personal disgrace as a scandal regardless of severity. Then::: I guess I'd have to go back over the lists of names, crimes, and outcomes to be fair. GOOD LORD:::With SO MANY bad politicians, this idea really stinks after all. I have my crow-pie pan out just in case.

Bird...it appears you are making work for yourself. If you stand by your initial absolute claim, then simply compare all R's and D's to reflect scandalous activity to your stated 3 to 1 ratio. Does not have to be subdivided because your initial claim had no subdivision or other limits to it. (Otherwise, will you also be comparing mayors and city councils across the land that are partisan as R's or D's?)

You really want this huge undertaking? This is probably a futile effort, in my opinion.

Likewise, to be fair to yourself, you only need to go back about 156 yrs., which is when the R party was created. Wouldn't be fair to yourself to go back 200 or so yrs to when the D party was created. There were no R's to compare to for the next 64 yrs or so. That would be a wasted effort.

Sorry Lucy, but now you are copping out. You never said Fed & Whigs in your statement regarding R' and D's. You may have meant that...but your claim did not state that. Remember, you are going to be held to prove the truth and veracity of the "author and historian sources" that you have also claimed are unbiased!

Yeah, you're probably right. best to simplify and group everything as scandal and leave the severity out of it. But with events from 1777 to now it would include political history? I don't recall exactly whether or not I stated Federalists and Wigs in that original post, since I did say I always heard the repubs scandaled 3-1. It might have been another's suggestion to add Federalists and Wigs. Yeah, I think it was and well that sounded wise at the time. But I think I bit off a larger bite than I should have regardless of who the loser/winner actually is. It's so amazing how crooked and messed up our system really is. In one administration alone there were 138 indictments. The presidential pardons alone are scandalous enough. G.H.W.Bush, B.Clinton, and G.W.Bush doled out more pardons than all the rest in history combined. That's another set of scandals I hadn't considered. I may need another couple days. But my pan is oiled and ready to bake. Hope I don't have to.
