PS, Bird...just to demonstrate how flawed your new attachment rules are, Ken Lay was never involved in anything illegal related to politics. His contributions to both parties have never been challenged as such. Your offering here libels the man. Secondly, he died before sentencing, thereby requiring the vacating of his conviction as if he had never been indicted, tried, or convicted. Those are automatic federal court rules.

Your error is in even mentioning Lay within the political scandal posts. This is one example of how skewed you are trying to make this.

Hi BigBrotherSmile

You're a tenatious cuss. It is so comical how some keep adding to and taking away from what was originally stated. First, I merely said I was always told that the republicans had scandaled 3-1 over Democrats. The pointed research I have been trying to complete proves only one thing. That I didn't know if that was a true statement and more importantly still, that I too would like to know if there really is such a large divide on either side. I admit,I am no expert and that I really didn't know IF what I was always told is true. So that aside, we still have to deal with the other fact that I simply said political scandal. Never once did I say that I heard that there were 3-1 criminals. Should scandals become crimes, well that's another matter and since it was either you or Old Fox that suggested that criminal aspect be for another time, I agreed. All I ever did was ask and didn't get an answer regarding the particulars, so then it was decide that as per the original claim of 3-1 in political scandals, that was fine. Now for Ken Lay. I really wish you had done your own research there. I thought we were only interested in scandal? So as I still stated, Ken Lay was involved heavily in political scandal and you should already know this. But since you'd rather I unload that knowledge here by your denial:::

August 15th, 2001 "Kenny Boy" Bush' pet name for long time oil buddy Lay, sent his lobbyist Pat Shortridge to meet with Bush' Economic Adviser Robert McNally, one day after Skilling' shocking announcement that he was stepping down, asking McNally to garner through the president, a massive bailout of Enron so 50,000 employees wouldn't be tossed out without a penny. Or that Bush used Lay's private jet to rally in Florida during the 2000 election fray. Or the one million dollars that Lay invested in Bush' campaign. Or that in 2002, Ann Womack pointed out that the white-house finally acknowledged Shortridge and McNally's secret meetings, in 1000's of documents finally released. Well after Bush refused to answer questions regarding what he knew and what contact he had with Lay over the eminent Enron collaps. Lindsay was paid 50,000.00 consultants fee in 2000 before Bush appointment. Or  that on January 8, 2001 Lay recommended 7 candidates to be appointed to Bush' Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and that 2 of the 7 were appointed by Bush, Pat Wood and Nora Brown. Wood was appointed to Chairman of the FERC.::: Now if that doesn't stink to the highest reaches of heaven :::of political scandal::: sir, then there is no such thing. Oh yeah, With all due respect:::I didn't write the dictionary, and no matter what dictionary you look up scandal within, it's meaning is the same. I always said scandal, not arrests, indictments, trials, convictions, sentences nor prison terms, scandal. S-C-A-N-D-A-L. Check it yourself if you need to. It seems you are pushing the content of mallory's information into my quest. But soon, soon. Jeez now me eyes are sore again.

Yes BB, I would agree that after reading this, "skewed" is an appropriate term.

Bird, bird, bird....all you are taking up room for on this site is assertions and allegations about Lay.

A million dollars to the Bush campaign? Where is the illegality and scandal in a donation?

Use of a private jet? You got to be kidding me, right?

OOOOOHHHHHH. Lay made commission and committee "recomendations"? Oh, how scandalous!

I just wish you could provide proof for any of this as "scandal", instead of something YOU interpret as such.

Skew...your new middle name.

However...regarding the rest of your fluff. Your post was never about the citizenry...your claim was about politicians, as that was the conversation at the time, as in Dems vs Repubs in 3 to 1 scandals....and I'm afraid ol' bird, that this then limits your "mission" to those in political office or those serving those offices.

Your strident departure from those in political office as Dems or Repubs, and your attempted skewing by adding private citizens is simply another brick in your wall of credibility...which are all falling down now.

You didn't need to write all this.   You could have just said, I'm only gonna believe what I wanna believe.

Here are thirteen more names who I think qualify to be included as involved in a scandal.  All part of Reagans's Iran/Contra gang.   Most also had other political positions at other times.

Secretly and illegally shipping weapons to Iran and trying to start a war in Nicaragua should qualify as political  scandals.

Elliot Abrams. pleaded guilty, pardoned by Bush

Robert C. McFarland, pleaded guilty, pardoned by Bush

Alan D. Fiers, pleaded guilty, pardoned by Bush

Clair George, convictrd, pardoned by Bush

Richard Secord, pleaded guilty

Carl R. Channel, pleaded guilty

John Poindexter, guilty

Oliver North, guilty, overturned because of tainted testimony

Duane I Claridge, pardoned by Bush before trial

Albert Akim, guilty

Thomas G. Cline, convicted

Richard R. Miller, convicted

Joseph F. Fernandez, indicted on four counts, Attorney General refused to prosecute

Some of these should be counted as two scandals.  One when found guilty and one when Bush pardoned them.   That would add five more to the list and make eighteen.

Are you keeping up?

Note to babybird.   Glad your eye problem is getting better.    I appreciate your efforts but I wouldn't go back so far, too much work and too unreliable.   Those you are trying to enlighten won't accept only what they want to and will continue to be critics.
