Yup BB
Agreed, a real early sign anyway. Polls can be good indicators but run in flux like the wind. I'm not that old, but would suspect that perhaps most presidents have dealt with strong early numbers and then saw a down turn. But we'd have to ask a guy like Hoover to get a true sense of the phenomenon. He was swept into office by a powerful margin, then in eight months, Wall Street and bankers killed everything. Republican Hoover couldn't have gotten a break to save his life, and congress refused to consider any of his revolutionary ideas. So a full blown depression ensued with 12 million unemployed by 1932. Along comes FDR, a friendly Dem.congress, the New Deal,(Largely Hoover's actual plan) handed to FDR, congress relents:::TADA!!!!!! the Great War, recovery, a boom, and smooth sailing until Korea. Hoover famously said, He feared he was elected by a people who expected too much of him, like some kind of super man. Kinda has a familiar ring to it. FDR magically becomes a hero(yeah right) and everyone but the interned Japanese are thrilled. CNN has my attention. Objective? My gramma use to call CNN the "Clinton News Network" They've come along nicely since then. I see his one term as unfortunate to be sure, but 13 months inside the most harried hive since 1928, is way to soon to be so sure. I won't let my desire decide my gut, but yup, it looks like a solid trend here. Poor Hoov::: oops I mean Obama.
Dang insomnia.
