Muscatine

Around my house, semi-formal means a clean pair of jeans and a t-shirt without a beer logo.  So I have to ask, what constitutes "semi-formal" in these scenarios?  Suit?  Sport coat?  Any denim allowed?   Do you have to wear a tie?  Who gets to make the call if I'm not dressed nicely enough? 

This sort of thing always confuses me.  Of course at my age, alot of things confuse me.

"Semi" formal might be any outfit that an 18 wheel trucker would wear?

By the way, I'm wondering if the sponsors of this event have arranged rides home for all those attending?

If not, I expect the local gendarmes to be on the lookout for drivers wearing a coat and tie starting at 7:30 that evening.

It's hard to believe, but I used to write a wine and spirits column in a now defunct newspaper.  I was asked to resign after indicating in my last column that a particular  well known Merlot tasted better going down than it did coming back up.
