I heard something on the news today that really struck me.  I guess I just never thought about it, but the Afgan War has now gone on longer than the Viet Nam War.  Somehow that does't seem possible but I guess it is.

Not really possible. The VA declares the Viet Nam Era/War as 02/28/61 thru 05/07/75, or 14 years. Some other agencies use 08/05/64 as the start date, but that still would be nearly 11 years.

Afghanistan War started with bombings on 10/07/01...not quite 9 years yet.
