A couple of weeks ago someone was discussing Israel and how they defend their borders and homeland. I think we could take lessons from them on what we should be doing to protect our borders. Yes, even if that means lobbing rockets into Mexico. We have to show the world we our serious about maintaining our sovereignty. We have to stop this flow and plug up these borders as it is a matter of national security. That isn't just a perceived threat, it is a fact. And I don't care if we do have to profile brown skinned, Spanish speaking people to do it, it needs to get done. "If we got rid of all the illegals don't you know how much that would hurt our economy?" Bullshat! Do you know how much it is costing us not to do it? And not in just dollars either. In our own national security as well. We are inviting our enemy's to come in here and join us and to attack us from within. Tell me again why I should get rid of my guns when the ultimate battle is going to be fought right here in America because these liberals are to soft, too stupid, or too apathetic to close our borders and stop this influx of terror into this country! I will step down off my soapbox now, please feel free to use it. |

Thanks for warming up the soapbox! I am fed up with all the libs saying that what we need is "comprehensive" immigration reform. NO - what we need is for the invasion of this country to STOP -NOW! We can work on that "comprehensive" BS right after we secure the border. When we have a portion of own country that IS POSTED as unsafe because of illegals assaulting citizens it is way past time to use drastic measures. Let's start calling this exactly what it is - it is an invasion of our country. |

My two cents on the immigration issue.
Some of you know I lived in the Southwest for 27 years and I was able to observe how immigration is enforced. There are border patrol agents throughout the states of Texas, New Mexico and Arizona who are constantly on the lookout for illegals. However this area is so large that they oftentimes drive right through these states in a van and end up in the midwest.
A couple of years ago several families were found living in Iowa that were not here legally. In one case, the family had lived in Iowa for 9 years and several of their children were born here. The son was either the reserve quarterback or the quarterback for the local football team. The father had a good job, they had a mortgage on a home and were good citizens in the community and were well known and liked by civic leaders. The government ordered them deported, The comminity in which they lived filed a petition asking the government to allow them to stay. I wrote several letters to our congressmen asking the same and each time I was told the same thing. "They had broken the law and were in the U S illegally and the law could not be modified for them. They could apply for citizenship and wait in line for their turn like others were doing but the children born here were U S citizens and could stay.
Our government and particulary the bureau of immigration has never done their job and now they want to allow illegals to stay without going through the process as stated above. They can't have it both ways; they do need to enforce the laws as they are now.
This is a federal law and most states do not make any effort to enforce these laws. I will bet there are at least 50 illegals in Muscatine right now. When police arrest someone for breaking the law, they check to see where the person is living. It is at this point, they could check for citizenship. I will also bet none of our local police have ever attempted to see if we have illegals here.
Besides all this, many of the illegals deal in drugs and commit all kinds of crimes. The laws we have concerning immigration need to be enforced, it is as simple as that.
I am admirer of Spanish speaking people and have many friends. My friends are against illegal immigration and we should be also. |
