Perhaps we should clarify that nobody is actually raising taxes. There were cuts authorized by Bush that are expiring...meaning taxes will be back to what they were before the cuts.

Granted, we'll all be paying more unless these cuts are extended. But, technically, they're NOT raising taxes. Even though I don't pay taxes because my only income is social security, I certainly sympathize with those who do and hope the cuts are extended.

Clarify?   Clear as mud. 

I guess you could use your reasoning this way, too:

My blood pressure medicine has lowered my blood pressure.  Now if I quit taking it, my blood pressure won't really be raised, it will just go back to where it was before I started taking the medicine.  ....uh....right.   Tell my doctor to quit hollering at me.  I didn't DO anything!

Some might call it wacko to say that the inactivity of allowing tax cuts to expire is really not "raising taxes"!?   You do realize that neglecting to act is a conscious decision that will knowingly result in taxes increasing (raising), right?

Your efforts to smooth things over for the dark side is quite humorous.

Technically if he doesnt extend the cuts...he will be in essence raising taxes..afterall he could extend them...but i doubt he will...

If were talking income tax, I don't believe you. Not to be rude, but by your own admissions you've been unemployed  for the year. This would put your income at a level below poverty. That, with the fact you have kids, puts you in a bracket that should provide you a return up to 3 to 4 times any paid taxes. This would mean you didn't pay a cent. Rest easy, you're not alone.
