Oh, they know what's happening.  Their egos just won't allow them to admit it.  Their dark little minds are in a silent and cowering bewilderment.  The body language and "tells" would be plain, if we could see it.  But don't waste your time expecting anything out of them.

It's pretty obvious that things are coming apart for the stygian cesspool in D.C.   We  can only hope that our great country will not cave before the Obumbler and his minions.
